Lately I was working on TSUthin project. TSU thin assumed to be low cost solution for creating network of thin clients. For educational institutions, and non profit organizations this project is free of charge(project is used by few educational institutions).
TSUthin is a document and software for Windows Terminal Services Client diskless computer network clients. It is used to boot (diskless) workstations over a network using PXE boot but it is possible to boot PXE from a CDROM or hard disk if the network card or BIOS do not support PXE. Today all mainboards have integrated NIC support PXE. TSUthin is partially based on free Thinstation a thin client Linux distribution.
TSUthin package includes :
- Thinclient software for unlimited number of thin clients
- Terminal services unlimited document a workaround for terminal services licensing
- document for creating Windows Terminal Services support thin clients booting
- NEW guide and files how to configure windows 2003 server using TFTP to automatically supply image to thinclient, without FDD or CDROM image if NIC supports PXE boot
How it will look after network is prepared?
You will have one Terminal Server and various number of thin stations. Terminal server will be always on, and it will support usual client like windows 98, Me, 2000 and XP and thin clients. Usual clients will connect to the server as always. Thin clients after booting and none user intervention, will automaticaly connect to Windows Terminal Services server presenting the graphical log-in screen of Microsoft Terminal Server through RDP. Network cards, video and audio cards of thin client are automaticaly detected and installed. Your users just need to enter username and password and they are ready to use thin clients.
Benefits of this are lower IT admin costs, lower hardware costs (for thin client sufficient hardware is P300, 32MB, 4MB graphic, 10Mbit Ethernet) , lower Energy Consumption, less network bandwidth, more efficient use of resources...

What will you get?
All required boot images will be supplied to you via email. ISO images you will need to burn on the CD, and auto boot PXE images you will need to copy on the server in the required directories. All the required configuration options will be supplied to you.
